Freshwater CUC???

I've started my grandson into the aquarium / fish hobby slowly with a freshwater 15 gal halfmoon tank.

We started getting a little algae and since I'm not at his house often enough to keep a close eye on things, I'm looking for info on where in the North 'burbs (Buffalo Grove area) a person might buy a freshwater CUC?

Any advice on what to buy? Freshwater snails?

I have tons of trumpet snails if you want some, smaller/tiny but free. They breed like crazy in my planted tank. They help with glass algae and leftover food but the real algae eaters are amano/Japanese Algae eater shrimp, you can find them at some Petco's for ~$4 a piece. They tend to be aggressive when it comes to feeding although they are peaceful.
