Green stuff

My brother has a fluval evo 5 gallon. It's been running for a month. While doing maintenance he noticed some green little balls. What is it and what should we do about the ?

Is it hard and flat? Looks like green coralline algae.

The live rock was pest free since in not plucked from the ocean but man made. Could it still be a sponge?

It seems soft and it's not flat but round. Like a little bead

Then it's probably sponge as ninja states.
It can hitchhike on anything.

My brother just noticed that the green stuff is on 3 of the 4 corners of the tank. Do you guys still think it could be a sponge?
