Headache #2

So now that i been doing some work on this sump now I've run in to another headache ! :/
The sump came with a whole for an external pump but i am using a mag 5. So i went to 2 different stores Home Depot and menards and i can not find any PVC to cover up this freekin whole !!! And just when I thought i found some its off by less than nothing any suggestions is there any way to grind the glass to make it fit? Thx for the help

Figure out the diameter of the hole and buy a non threaded bulkhead. Then glue in a pvc plug.

It's more than likely what was in the hole to begin with.
 
You just need it sealed shut? There's probably not a whole lot of pressure there, maybe aquarium safe silicone and a small piece of glass stuck to the inside?

sure would make a nice tank Drain :-)
 
Hmmmmm interesting idea lol but i can't even figure out what size this whole is i bought a 1" PVC covering to small and than tries 1 1/4 to big lol
 
Ah, I had the same problem with figuring what bulkhead would fit my 50 cube. The holes are metric and are in-between those two sizes lol!

I used a 1" bulkhead and it works perfectly. You just need to center it while you tighten. You could even buy a threaded bulkhead, and use a threaded plug, this way if you ever wanted to utilize that hole for some piece of equipment, you just need to remove the plug and go from there.

If you go the threaded plug route, just make sure you teflon tape it really well.
 
its probably a 3/4" or 1" bulkhead, the bulkheads are slightly larger than the pipe size they are drilled for.
 
Living Sea Aquarium in Park Ridge had some the last time I was there. Give them a call first so they can check. Like Matt said, I'd pick up 1" and 3/4" to be sure. No sense in making two trips. It would cost you more in gas to drive there and return it.

You could also call Advanced Aquatics in Schaumburg. He might have some as well.

Sho Tank would have them, but that would be way too far since I see you're in DG.
 
Definitely go the bulk head route. If its a 1" I may have an extra one laying around since I just had my tank drilled. if not I would say to go to RW or The guy over on 59 in Naperville (aquatic visions). He's not always nice but has what is needed.
