Hello, I am new to the site. My name is Dan I have been in the hobby for about 8 years. I have recently taken down my 75 gallon FOWLR and transferred rock and sand to a deep blue 28g reef ready. I have had the new tank up and running for about 4 weeks. I jumped the gun on a bta and it did not make it i wish I could have kept my excitement in check.

Nice tank yeah a bta ain't going to make it in a 4 week old tank. But she'll get there then you can have a few

welcome aboard Dan! Very nice looking tank for 4 weeks, transfering over from the fowlr gave it a nice head start. Balancing excitement and paitenance is all what this hobby is about, and it's tricky to do.

Thanks, I know the excitement has always been a problem with a new tank. I would think that I would learn my lesson already. Any suggestions for a mixed reef starter?

Probably #1 is tanks fill up very quickly. Second is disease or pests. Take you time trying to avoid too many impulse buys will help from filling up the tank with the first eye candy you see and a 100% unbreakable dipping/QT for all incoming good will help prevent pests. Otherwise, just enjoy.
