Help a newbie gfo reactor user

I setup my first reactor last week on Wednesday after realizing that just throwing the media In mesh bag in the sump wasn't getting the job done. it's the deluxe BRS single reactor with gfo. I just used the same gfo media that I had in the mesh bag and put it in the reactor. This media was only about 4-5 days used MAX.
Today I started noticing some of the algae haze on the glass and I remember reading somewhere that that's a good indicator that the media needs to changed out. Is this true? Has my media already been exhausted?

Its possible -- can be "used up" very quickly when you first start using it -- that's why most advise starting with a small amount and then adding as needed. I would start over with new media if it were me
