Help selecting an external protein skimmer and GFO reactor.

Hey everyone,

I have a couple of questions to ask since I really don't have very much experience with protein skimmers and GFO reactors.

My setup is a 27 gallon cube with a HOB CPR Aquafuge 2. I don't have a sump so my options are limited.

I'm not sure if this is at all possible, but I would like to set up an external skimmer and have a phosphate reactor hooked up to it as well.

If it's possible, what should I be looking at as far as skimmers and reactors, and also what's the best way to hook them up together. I'm pretty good with plumbing so that won't be an issue. Well hopefully it won't!!

Thanks in advance for your help,
Dom

Give us a picture with the area we are working with...

I'll try to get one posted a bit later.

But under the tank, I have roughly 20"X18"X22"H. A HOB skimmer won't be able to fit on the tank unfortunately due to the hob fuge. I was hoping to do something similar to a canister filter as far as intake and outflow. The only space I have on the back of the tank is roughly 3.5 inches so that's why I'm thinking the only option is the canister filter intake and outflow tubes?

Alright, so I've quite possibly looked at every single protein skimmer on the market and can't seem to find one that will work. The only options are in sump, HOB, in tank, or external models. The smallest external model I found was rated for up to 125 gallons. Way too big for my application.

I spoke with my buddy and he recommended that I forget about my idea and just build a sump/refugium out of a 10 gallon tank and quite messing around lol! His said to buy an in-sump skimmer that will fit in a 10 gallon, but still leave some room for a fuge.

I have zero clue on what skimmer would work with that size limitation. Anyone have any suggestions?
