HELP!!! Wood cabinet stand bowing from humidity!

Whew!!! What a relief to hear that this is only a panel & not a supporting wall of the stand & I'm not gonna find the tank & all my beloved corals/fish on the floor one day! Also that there is nothing leaking... :rain:

That is great Jeni. I was having a real problem with my growout system bubbling all of the floor. I thought I had a leak, but it was just the tiny popping bubbles clearing the rim of the tank and collecting on my basement floor. After my panic I tried a few different things to stop it and i came up with a series of small acrylic "shingles attached to the drain pipe just over the water. Imagine a dragon's tail with the scales sticking out at about 45 degree angles attached with zip ties. Since doing that the bubbles collect on the acrylic and run back into the sump. I have no creep anywhere but there and I simply ran my ATO to the same spot above and it completely rinses the salt back into the sump everytime it tops off. Thought I would throw that out there if it would help with your issue going forward.

I really feel that since I've had no major problems like this in the past 7 years this tank has been set up, I had this issue because I removed the dehumidifier too early in the season, left the fan on over the sump, closed the cabinet doors & closed the doors & windows in the room, causing a great deal of humidity to build up in there.

"Herbie's Dragon Tail" overflow... that has such a better ring to it than just plain old "Herbie's" overflow! I can dig it!

Glad you got it figured out Jeni, hopefully the side can be repaired easily enough!

DOH! Do you have an ATO working overtime or having a noticeable drop in water? Seems you would notice that before anything. Hopefully it's nothing too serious!! Fingers crossed, keep us posted!

No ATO, I top off by hand every night. I don't trust those things. Julian Sprung lost $10,000 in corals because his failed & turned his tank into FW.

Yeah I have mine set to shut off using my aqua controller based on ph, since I dose kalk. Hopefully it works... Have you added more than normal lately and see any change in salinity? Hopefully it's not a leak :a33:

Oh no! I really hope it's just more spray... Good luck, and let us know if we can help out!

maybe i missed this in the five pages but is there an internal frame in the stand that the outside wood is attached to? I couldn't see one in the pic. If you could post a pic of the inside of the cabinet.

I took the door off, thinking the humidity was just trapped in there. Carpet's still damp--something's still going on.

U have a leak somewhere. keep searching lol.

And if ur tank stand is going to give out, get some 2x4s or 4x4s and place them in the corners of the stand.
