High alk

My alk is super high about 16.8. Not sure how long it's been there but I'm having no issues. Also my calcium is low about 340 so I'm dosing for that now. Not sure what I should do. Just let alk fall naturally or do a WC to bring it down

Are you sure your test kit is accurate? Seems like at that level all your SPS would be :dead:. Maybe get a second opinion with another test kit at your LFS.

+1 for test again, never take a single high or low measurement and react too quickly. Tests and methods can be wrong, over reacting can kill a reef.
 
Yeah I plan on testing again tomorrow anyway just couldn't today because of work. I posted my main concern in my build thread about my ammonia being at 1 and no nitrites but I'll be testing that again also

Yep. What he said. Alk is really the only parameter I worry about. Keep alk steady, and it's likely your other parameters are good to go. Obviously this is a simplistic view, but this is how I operate.

Hoping it was just really inaccurate. I'll be getting some test kits from the brs GB on tuesday. For now I'm going to retest everything in the morning and decide what to do from there.

I have both Api and salifert alk test kits. They always gave me the same results. So does your API alk test kit match the test results from the LFS?
