High alk

I have Red Sea and the Hanna checker for Alk. If you can swing the cost for a Hanna, checking Alk takes about 60 seconds. I use both on occasion and the Hanna has always been very close to Red Sea.

I did that once tested with API test kit ALK was high made a mistake didn't shake after each drop not sure if that's what they did but test again GL

IMO...API is good for Calcium or maybe a basic Nitrate test since I'm not looking for precision. William Lutman how accurate is the Hanna Alk tester? You like it? I use their phosphate one.

Retested with my API test kit. And here's the results
Salinity 1.024
Alk 9dkh
Calcium 370
Nitrate 0
Phosphates 0
No ammonia or Nitrite test

I dosed 60 ml aquavitro calcification which will bring my calcium up 30 more

Salinity will be fixed with next WC

No nitrates since peroxide dosing killed off my bacteria

Phosphates inaccurate since it's locked up in my gha

API ALK is repeatable and therefore pretty accurate. You just need to watch and make sure you get the bottom of the bubble dead in the middle of the via fill line. Then be careful when you drip they are full drips when the bottle is straight upright. I compare it to the lab testing tools I have.

API is not the only ALK test I use.

Our towns border each other. I'm free all day today so if you want me to test your parameters, PM me. I have both Salifert and Hanna alk test kits.

May have to take you up on that but can't this weekend. Nothing but sleeping all day and working all night until Monday morning

Something I learned with my Red Sea kit: Rinse out the vials with RODI thoroughly before tests. I was getting inconsistent results prior to doing this. Good luck and I also primarily just test for Alk at this point (once a week).

Alk 9 sounds more reasonable. Now you know not to go to that LFS for your testing anymore.

To add to this don't have Aquarium Adventure test your water. During the Black Friday sale one of the guys there kept telling me how my Ai sols weren't good lights and I should buy the Current Usa Marine led lights. No matter how many times I told him my tank was 72" long and they didn't have a fixture even close to that.. plus they were asking like $200 for a 24" fixture lol. Sorry for this rant but I want to make it clear they don't care about your tank they just want to make a quick buck out of you. With this said their is some knowledgeable people there that I ask for when i do go there..

Yeah when I need to ask questions I talk to specific people, but testing water isn't brain science. My wife can do that
