hole in head in sailfin

so have a buddy that has big tank in his office at work he called me yesterday do to a bluethroat being sick . now he has a guy maintain tank i usually just help with fish and take him to stores any way i get there blue throat has severe case of ip i caught him and treating but its bad all other fish looked great except one tang sailfin has start of hole in head . now i never delt with this in salt water only fresh . i know usually diet . some times carbon and water quality.. well as for diet i think hes good feeds spectrum algae sheets and mysis and tang eat it all. he runs no carbon has nice octopus skimmer and the tank is maintain by another guy. parameters r unknow as i dont do the maintaince. im little pissed because this trigger is so far gone and the maintanice guy should of said something to him and didnt if it dies its his fault . my buddy that ownes the tank is busy doctor and loves the fish but doesnt know squat when it comes down to it thats why he pays for they guy to come and i pointed out the hole in head . any way i told him try vitamin c what else can i do to help this he has a powder blue to and hes fine i know sailfins r more common to have it thanks guys
 
I told him vc already. U know u like that guy from big fat greek wedding and his thought of windex cures eveeything . What should i check that could be causing this
 
yea i have to go test his water i did tell him to start useing vitamin c really dont have any clue y it has hole in head in first place . i never had a tang get hih and he feeds same as me so maybe maintnaince guy is not doing good job when i get time i will go test
