How to run carbon without a filter or sump?

Hey guys,

I have a 36g bow front mixed Reef. I have an Octo 1000 HOB skimmer. No filter or sump. 2 powerheads. One in each of the back corners. I’m wondering if you have any ideas on how to run carbon in a mesh bag? Maybe on top of the left side of the skimmer? But I don’t want to reduce any of the flow because that could resort in an overflow.

You can get a canister filter...used and filter out anything you need.
Or even a waterfall style filter and place the sock in there.

If you don't want to add extra equipment, probably just hang it inside your tank, although its gonna be much less efficient.
You don't want direct flow anyway, so don't worry about reduce flow. Hang it at corner with NO direct flow, make sure the carbon bag is not waving around.
If your carbon bag is waving around, the carbon inside is rubbing each other and break down into powders. and you will eventually have a black tank.
