My current light fixture (2) 150w HQI (4) T5 had two noisy fans.
So... I ordered some new ones. They finally came in and I installed them. I think will replacing the fixture end cap that holds the fan, a wire must have gotten trapped between the end cap and the fixture. Forcing the end cap on removed the insulation on the wire. Went to test the fan and POP, smoke, circuit is dead.
Awesome. The fan works perfectly.
So, I take the end cap off, test the new fan, and it still works. Run new wire to the fan and put the end cap back on.
Test again. Fan 1, fan 2, lights, YAY!
I put the fixture back on the aquarium plug it all back up, turn on the fans and everything works great. Plug the HQIs back into the ballast, turn them on and POP, flash of light, smoke. You have to be kidding me.
I must have stripped the metal halide wire circuit and cause a short. Finally, I have had enough with this fixture. All of the wires are so tight in there, the reflectors are sharp on all the edges, and it simply gets in a worse condition everytime I open it up.
So, Tammy went and picked up the AI Sol white module today from Aquacave. We wanted two, but they only had one in stock so they are shipping the other one to us.
These LED fixtures should integrate great with our Aquacontroller. I haven't even seen it yet. I want to go home!
