In need of a Par Meter

Is there anyone out there that has a par meter that i could borrow or rent????? I have an AI SOL Super Blue and would like to tune it in correctly.

When i saw they are like $350 i was in hope someone would like to make some of that money back by renting it for a resonable price. I just can't afford to pay that much for something i need to use for a couple of hours and would then go into the closet for the rest of time

You can buy just the Apogee light sensor and use a volt meter, Sq-120 sensor. It was the route I went when I switched to LED. Just hook the senor to the DMM, measure mV and multiple by 5. $140 or so shipped for the senor from apogee.

have you ever had a chance to compare this to a full par meter set up? In theory it makes sense, but why don't more people do it? I even have 2 multimeters, but have never gotten around to trying this out.

I'm not sure why more people dont. The full meter gives you the option to store data, but I can use a pencil and paper to save the $200... In the Apogee documentation for the probe they confirm multiply by 5 to get par so I never compared to their meter, I don't see the need to.
 
yep the electric calibrated unamplified sensor, it's the one I have. I mounted it to a long nylon threaded rod and attached multimeter plugs to the end of the leads. Easy peasy.
 
just the sensor works, the meter part is just a logging voltmeter that does the 5x correction. the sensor is a photodiode with a special filter lens. I have a sensor as well, but when 'tuning leds' be aware par meters are very innacurate with LEDS can be off as much as 25%
