I have been encountering a lot of issues with the Jebao (now Jecod) DP-4 dosing pump. Initially, 2 of the 4 pumps were not able to draw any liquid up. I continued to use the product for a little bit since I only needed two heads for 2 part, but then I came home one day to it having emptied my entire Alk solution into the tank (about 1/3 gallon). Emergency water changes ensued, a few lost SPS, and that is pretty much all good now. Aquapros was wonderful and swapped out the unit for another one.
However, I cannot seem to get an air tight seal with these peristaltic heads. If I keep the dosing solution below the pump, it will slowly drip back to the reservoir and lead to a gradual decrease in the amount of fluid dosed to eventually none at all since the hoses won't be primed. If I move the reservoirs above the dosing pump, I'm sure you can imagine the issue being the opposite and the fluid will slowly drip into the tank along with the scheduled full dosed amounts.
Has anyone encountered this issue with this dosing pump or any peristaltic pump and have advice on securing the seal on the tubing around the rollers on the pump?
What about the option of putting the reservoirs below the pump, with a check valve on the intake side of the peristaltic head in order to prevent backflow into the reservoir? Could this keep the hoses primed, or would it simply force the liquid to leak out into the tank instead?
