You dont want to buy a 'fish and a prayer". I have put off posting this for months. I cant sit by any longer and let newbe's get ripped off. These fish are prices from 40$-60$ each. I posted the price, not to sell them, but to let everyone know how afordable A grade Onyx can be. These guys are 4 months old and stressed from being caught and droped in this container.booyah

I bought one from tom and doesn't looked like that yet... Think I got him younger though so hoping the black comes out more soon.

No issues with my Onxy from Tom. Why would you say they're fake besides coloration showing more when highly stressed? Do you have photos month to month changes and growth? Who's selling fake ones?

Found a thread on Rod's Onyx (What Tom breeds) stating it takes almost up to a year for them to fully darken up. Many fish species salt or freshwater will darken in color when stressed out...

Thread with coloration over time from young to over one year.

Not trying to cause a ruckus, Booyah, just like to have all the 411 as possible.
Don't want to see this kind of drama either.

Just to point out here, the OP never named names, so why are you assuming he is talking about someone specific? I've seen some really pathetic excuses for "onyx" clowns at a few LFS in the area over the last few years. Might be better to not be pointing fingers and just ingest the information provided.

Yea Mitch never said names. Everyone does there own thing and why not? Everyone goes to whoever they like. Mitch is cool peeps. I think he just wanted to share his big ol head of knowledge with us! :p

I feel like the clowns I bought are not true onyx but won't name names

EDIT:: not to knock anyone but after some research my clowns may just take time to color up! My male is already getting black the female will take some time! Which is fine! I love my clowns

Why make a point of saying someone is selling fake ones with basic/broad information with no backup or data of what their claiming? Like I said in my post, "Not trying to cause a ruckus." Mitch has posted on another forum regarding questions of Onyx clowns before where the people were getting all drama queen'd over nothing.

As far as who is Tom: Goat585, JLee mentioned him also.
As far as Booyah/Mitch being a breeder/seller I can understand why he didn't name them.

Mitch or anyone that comes to the thread: Is it possible to show pictures, examples of not true Onyx clowns look like for the new comers or someone that doesn't have an ichthyology background? Maybe Family tree of Onyx's that you breed and sell?

I don't know what my clowns are... Black and white with orange noses. I don't remember what i paid for them, or what i bought them as, but i like their looks. personality on the other hand... Dang bitey female
