Keeping Mandarinfish

I use NLS also. Small pellets; I think they're labeled as 1 mm.

Bottom line....You will need pods... You will have to work and train this wonderful fish to eat prepared food, which could take time. No other way around it!!!

this is true... as i said before my mandarin eats pellets but only very reluctantly .. im guessing only when its like extremely hungry or something ..


i saw it become thin and got pods from reefs2go and saw it become active hunting all day long ..but then again now its not eating anything .

so there is essentially no way around not having pods in the tank

and one thing for sure is, this is not an impulse buy fish... as beautiful as they are .. they are a pain if you dont have enough pods in the tank so wait for a while let the pods grow (but still they go thru pods like candy)

Flamehawk and madarin

Brian at Reefwise posted on FB that he has ORA mandarins in and that they are eating Spectrum. I wonder if my Flame Hawk would get along?

yea flame hawks are totally cool with mandarin fish..i had both in my tank until my flame hawk dies without a reason
