Lazy diamond goby

Bought a diamond goby a week ago to clean up my sand because its looking a little rough and this bum sits under a rock in the corner n never come out. It was doing work like crazy when I seem him and was thinking he'd be a great addition. He must have just been putting on a good act to lure me in to purchase him. Any ideas to get him to get to work? Destroy his rock home? Or maybe get him competition?

All of my fish are about 6" or so. No one even looked at him after I put him in. Acclimation was fine. He doesn't even come out for feeding. I turn on my iPhone light under my tank n see him under the rock just sitting there. About to Shoosh him outta there and close up his hole!

That would be a mistake to make go come out forcefully
Give it time and be patient
If you whoosh him outta that cave he would find some other cave or get stressed out

Any other ideas besides this guy to clean up sand. Star fish r a nogo my queen angel kills them. Snails my Hawaiian trigger loves to eat them. Should I try a few larger hermit crabs?

Just give him some time. No need to rush out n get more stuff if you just decided to add him. I'm sure he's intimidated by the much larger fish, regardless if they bother him or not. They tend to be a bit skittish. Mine was in a tank with only one fish larger than him and he jumped. Only fish I've ever had that carpet surfed.

Maybe a little more time like others have suggested is all that's needed. If he is healthy, the fact that he isn't coming out for food is pretty suggestive that he is still uncomfortable in his new surroundings.

Mine took about a week and a half to come out, I seen him hanging out under rocks but never came out to hang. After almost 2 weeks he comes out for food and moves around a lot more, def more active. Still not all over the place like should be but a huge improvement from the get go. Give it time my friend!

U guys were right once again!!!!! I'm currently cleaning my kitchen floor n look up at my tank n boom there he is leaning up a storm!! Time wins! Sure glad I joined this forum thanks guys
