Led lighting thru acrylic top

I'm setting up my 65 gallon

I have the maxspect 160w led system
I want to put a lid on the tank to keep down evaporation
If I use acrylic instead of glass since acrylic is clearer
Will I have a problem with the light going into the tank and not bouncing off the acrylic

It could still be diffused as you will have some water condensation forming on the acrylic side closest to the water. As to how much PAR you will be losing I am not really sure. Just a concern. I made a real slick DIY cover for a rimless I had and it bugged the heck out of me.

I know its probably not what you want to hear, but it might be better to leave it open top and add an ATO to the system. Keeps up with evap and no loss of light or having to clean off all the salt creep and water beading.

ATO as well. However, if you still decide to cover it, go with a Lexan sheet. regular acrylic can warp and start to tint after a while of direct lighting.

I. Have an ato
It's more to keep the evaporation and
Moisture less
In the room the tank is going into
In in a closet thru the wall
