Lookin to do away with my t5's. I have a 40b with all lps/softies. No desire for sps. Not looking to break the bank. Wondering what the best options are? Only lookin to put out $200 or so. Thanks.

$490, 160w Maxspect Razor 27" fixture, will give you pretty decent coverage over a 40b. Plus color is amazing on this fixture.

$400+ for 3 36w Par38 bulbs and fixtures, will also give good coverage, but price goes up if you want dimming control.

$360+ for 2 chinese 120w dimmable LED fixtures, price goes up for more features like full spectrum or built in controllers.

~$300+ for a basic 2 channel DIY LED setup built right with a housing, controller, etc... Needs to be built yourself thou.

Aaron, im not sure if you are aware as well, you can stop by Advanced Aquatics, Glenn has both the Razor and Gamma side by side right when you walk in the door now. He is also a Radium dealer, but not sure if he has one of those over any tanks, but at $600 each, youd need 2 and im sure thats well outside your $200 budget, even with wiggle room.

My t5 fixture is only a year old. Time to replace bulbs, but was thinkin of goin for led instead. I couldn't drop alot of money on a fixture without feeling guilty, being I'll be laid off work here in a couple weeks. I am only in need of two 36" t5 bulbs, I may just have to stick with my t5 till I go back to work in spring. Anyone know where I can find a purple + and a blue +? Or a nice alternative to those two?

Aquapros should be able to hook you up with those 2 bulbs locally.

I personally prefer the fiji purple from KZ over the Purple+ from ATI, but they both get the job done.

They are mostly built pretty good, usually all come out of the same handful of factories in China, just with different names slapped on them.
