lighting ideas for 12g nano cube hood?

Anyone have any experience with a certain retrofit or kit? Mine is currently gutted, but still has the splash gaurd.

I have rock work all the way up to the top of the tank so I'm looking for something that will give me good light but won't burn out corals near the top which is a good 3-4" from the water.
I know I'm going to hear rapid led once or twice. I might be being a bit picky but it would be nice to have it dimmable somehow and or full spectrum. Ideas thoughts links welcome! I

If not look at Steve's LEDs or rapidled. There is also a local sponsor ( Reefledlights) that builds kits too I think. I believe his name is Bill.

I wish I could say I'm a DIY led guy but I never have. Knowing me I'd screw it up no matter how easy it is.

I heard there's also a company called aquatic or something of the nature that does it as well?

Are the rapid led kits premade and all y I have to do is install into the hood?

I thought the same thing when i retrod my BC its really easy. You can even get solderless LEDs to make it super easy.

Rapid and Steve's have basically 90% assembled kits that are almost plug and play. just more $$

I completed this fairly easy retrofit in my Oceanic 14g Biocube this past April. It's full spectrum, programmable and and has a storm controller. It took a few hours to complete, required no soldering, a couple of tools needed (but you'll likely have them), a small Dremel was very helpful and Dave was super helpful and professional. I kept the splashguard and the metal plate that come stock in the hood. He provides you everything else including a great little heatsink and fan. Dave can recommend what you can use if you've tossed the splashguard or metal plate.

I completed the retrofit without any instructions as they were mistakenly not included in my delivery. Dave was quick to email them to me but I had already figured it out. I like DIY projects so long as they aren't overly complicated and this was much easier than I had expected.

At the time, I think I paid less than $250 and took less than a week to be delivered.

+1 for Nano Box. Top notch, hand made lights. I ran one over my cube for months and loved it. Only reason I'm no longer using it is I have moved to a larger tank.
