I was doing a bit of reseach tonight and ran into these two articles about corals and usable light. I recently upgraded tanks and really want to make sure my light is sufficient for my larger aquarium. Well it turns out my PAR is a bit low for the corals that I own, but im seeing excellent growth and color. Especially in my sps that have lost color from tank transfer. In my case this is a simple fix. I can just add LEDs. Some of you may have asked yourself the same question. "Are my lights good enough?" Well here is a pretty basic overview of the science behind what corals need.
Of course you cant answer this question fully without having access to a PAR meter, but here is some information many are unaware of and plays a large roll in the husbandry of our tanks.
