So I want to ask what are some of the time frames everyone has for lighting??

I know its supposed to be like 8-12hrs right?

I want to know what time your guys have them come on and turn off.

Thanks I'm just looking to see what if I'm doing a wrong lighting schedule.

Thanks again.

My Lights are on from 7am to 10pm. With only 3 hours at the max strength I have programmed(not the max the light will allow) 3 of those hours are 15% less then the max 3 hours. The remaining hours are working up to max and back down. 4 hours a night I am total dark

I run 2 2040's and 1 2060 LED's from the group buy.

Ok cool.....well also I wanted to let you know I'm still using PC lighting......so maybe someone can give me some info on lighting for that.

My blues come on at 4:30pm, followed by whites from 5:00pm to 12:30pm, then just blues till 1:00am

This is pretty much the same as me. Blues hit full power from about 4-8. Daylights hit full power from about 5-7. Moonlights are on until 1am.

My triggers and tusk go to sleep as soon as the moonlights come on. The tangs and angels quit partying when the moonlights go off.

Actinics: 9am-11pm, Daylights: 11am-9pm.

Mine is max spect razors and time looks like this ( if any one has other opinions to better use the razors please feel free to pm me)

12 pm - 2 pm -- whites ramp up to 45% and blues ramp to 60%

2pm to 6 pm -- whites 45% blues 60%

6pm to 8 pm -- ramp down to whites 0% and blues 50%

8pm to 10pm -- blues stay on at 50% and whites 0%

10pm to 11:30pm -- blues ramp down to 0%

11:30pm to next day 12pm -- no lights (plenty of ambient light but not sure of that counts)

Mine start ramping up (very slowly) around 8:30pm and finally go dark by 8:30pm. I'd like a schedule shifted slightly later, but I like to see my tank in the morning to check on it before heading out. That and the room it is in has tons of natural light, so, if I were to simply shift the light cycle to the afternoon, the tank would be awake from 8am ish anyhow.

As for killing the moonlights entirely, I'm not sure you're doing any harm, but keep in mind that first, the moonlights that are sold are not representative of true moonlight. Even at the lowest settings they are typically far brighter than actual moonlight and are blue (real moonlight is still white, it's just our eyes that shift it blue). Furthermore, while moonlight certainly can penetrate water somewhat, likely that is only around the time of a full moon. Night is still dark on the reef is all I'm saying. Now, that said, I'm not sure how much harm, if any, you're actually doing, so if its been working for you and your reef, then great!
