Lizards are a fun! and inexpensive!

So, my wife made me mad one day way back. Went to the pet store and thought, "I think my son needs a lizard". Low and behold, I found a leopard gecko and for about $150, tank, sand, rocks, heating pad, and gecko came home. We properly named him "Spite", and has been part of the family now for at least 2 years. He has doubled in size from when I got him and will except being held by a person. Caution for those considering lizards, they do carry 'salmonella', so hand washing is an absolute must after handling. They are low maintenance, poddy trained, establish in one area and that is where they go. They do not deviate from that area! He eats 24 crickets over a two week time, $3.00. You don't have to feed them daily, just like other reptiles, will eat and store reserves. I give mine a shower about every 3 months or so, or if I see that he shed his skin and has some leftover, some moisture will help him get it off. They eat what they shed, no clean up! He is a desert gecko so doesn't have the moisture needs as other lizards may. Enjoy the quick flick.

i love reptiles. I myself have an ambilobe panther chameleon. Really easy to take care of and love the colors. he wasnt 150 cheap but still way cheaper than setting up a reef.

I used to have leopard geckos, they were awesome. I've upgraded to a bearded dragon, which is a little more work than a leopard, but still awesome. I missed the personality my leopard geckos had.

I kept lizards/turtles/frogs for about 20 years before I got into reefing. Lots & lots of frogs. Had a turtle habitat outside.

Used to have leopard, tokay, crested, bearded, web-footed, viper.. Ball pythons, Pacman frogs... Hmmm lots of things...

I may be checking out NARBC in tinley in 2 weeks. Wifey already said... If I buy anything she will kill me. Lol

I used to breed leopards, Leachianus, and fat tail geckos along with ball pythons, womas, boas, milks, kings, and a few other reptiles. We currently only have two red footed tortoises. I ended up selling all of my reptiles when our daughter was born.....the reptile room became our nursery. I really miss them but plan to get some more once we buy a bigger house and have more room.

Best of luck with your new Leo! They're great animals!

Oh and Jorge, I'll be there in Tinley for the NARBC. Planing to meet up with some friends there. Holler if you go!
