Looking for advice from basement sump experts

Skip the Jecod, they aren't pressure rated and have an extreme fall off with any sort of real head pressure. 10' is going to make almost any DC pump useless with the exception of the Abyzz, Red Dragon, and to a lesser extent the Vectra (people have been reporting low flow with the Vectra on basement sump setups). Honestly, get yourself a nice Iwaki or Blueline pump and never worry about your return pump again.

Iwaki MD55-RLT or Mag18?

Iwaki MD55-RLT or Mag18?

Iwaki all day long. The Mag pumps are great if you need a bulletproof pump that can be run internally, but the iwaki (Japanese built if you can get it) is a much better pump for external use. Being air cooled rather than water cooler it will also limit the heat the pump puts back into the water. The mag pumps are internally cooled via water channels around the impeller.

+1, if you're running internal pump get a mag, external pump and of the pumps listed above are awesome. I recommend internal over external but just my opinion. I hate that some times with my external on my mixing station that some times when I switch valves it doesn't self prime. I know how to fix the issue but it's not feasible for my situation.

And another note on Ted's internal cooling of internal pumps, having a basement sump will keep your tank cool even on the hottest summer days. I prefer if my equipment keeps my water warm because that means my 500+ watts of heaters don't need to constantly be on lol. I've never had an issue with my tank ever going above my apex set temps. Pretty much all year my tank stays at 79 no matter what the temp in the house or outside temp is.
