What's the smallest size tank that you've seen a happy and fat Mandarin? I was told long ago that it would HAVE to be at least a 75G tank with a lot of mature LR. I have mine in a 55G that may not have quite 55 lbs of LR. I got the fish from Badgus (thanks again) and it was trained to eat frozen and pellets. I've heard of some keeping them in 29G cubes but I'm not sure with how much success.

The reason for the large tank size and rock is for a big population of pods. If you have him eating other foods you should have better luck.

I would say if it's not eating prepared at least a 75. I know a certain someone that has one in a 75 with close to 200# of LR and still wasn't doing that great. Luckily he started picking up frozen and is now nice and fat! ;) Also have to take into consideration if it has competition. Dragonets and Wrasses are BIG ones!

Are you talking about me

I had a spotted and a green mandrin in my 125. I figured they where both eating frozen and pods after a year and a half. Then I decided to use some flatworm exit because it was getting really bad and a week later I lost the spotted. It all has to do with what they are eating.
