Mandarin Goby

Sorry to burst your bubble. They are on the difficult side and your tank is too small to be able to sustain it. If you do further continue this hobby and do get a bigger tank, I suggest reading the November/December Coral Magazine. It's all about dragonets and very informative.

You may want to start looking at invests such as sexy shrimp. They are small and very neat looking inverts. A few of the members here do have them.

Mandarins are not difficult at all. You just have to have the proper food source for them. In fact I would say they are one of the easiest fish to keep as long as you have the pods to sustain them. You just drop them in and let them do their thing.

I believe that is why they are considered difficult. Just like Ted said they are easy as long as you have the proper food source for them if not they will be DIFFICULT to keep. I wouldn't put in that small of a tank + I think your at max as well.
 
how many fish do u have in this tank again? I do agree with everyone else.. the mandarin goby will probably be better in a way bigger tank..

Is your mandarin eatng well? He looks pretty skinny or was this when he was first introduce into your Tank? Mandarins need a really healthy population of Pods to survive if he eating rod's food or pellets thats geat but Pods are still a must for there diet to survive... JMO

He already cleared it up, the mandarin was a little thin when he got it, the fish is very plump and happy now in his tank!

Now my mandarins on the other hand, were plump and happy when I got them, and are getting thin. I have them in a net breeder feasting on thera 0.5mm pellets and nutramar ova all day long until they fatten back up a bit, then I need to find them a new home. Lesson learned, a critter keeper is not a suitable sized refugium...
