Media reactor help

Hey guys,

Noob needs help again.

So a few of you know I have been trying to find the right skimmer for an all in one, no extras hanging off my tank or poking out of the hood, system. My tank sits in my living room and looks great so I don't want to add any visually awkward stuff to it.

The ideal skimmer for my tank is the tunze 9002. The problem is that it will take up the middle chamber in my refugium. That chamber is where my media basket is now and I have my purigen packs, etc in there.

I came across an all in one reactor that will fit in my other chamber (originally designed for the crappy nano skimmer by jbj) If I remove my media basket and put the skimmer there, can I use this reactor in another chamber and be safe?

I do run corals. Mainly softies and zoas and a few sps. I have a 28 Gal JBJ nanocube HQI with halides.

Your help is greatly appreciated.

Well that is the thing, I want to get the skimmer they recommend on there which is the tunze 9002. It will go in my middle chamber though. That is the only place it will fit.

If I put it there, I have to remove my media basket. If I remove the media basket, can i use the media reactor in its place?

To answer your question my wife has a nuvo 16 and we plan on using two of the desktop minimax reactors on it. From what I have read and videos I've seen they are well designed and have the small footprint we need in the nano. They are pricey but hey what isn't in this hobby. I think you should be good to use one or more in your nanocube

I have the JBJ 30 Rimless, however our chambers are a little different. Im the same way about clean set ups and wont have wires showing, or skimmers hanging out the top. I know the Hydor nano skimmer fits perfecting without showing over the top, in one of my return chambers so i have to sacrifice one of the two media baskets.

If you have the 1st gen 28g JBJ. You should be able to fit it in one of your returns. Just take the pump out and use the other one full time. Therego you don't have to remove you basket.

Thanks sparky! I think you answered my question. So I wouldn't sacrifice anything by removing my basket and using a media reactor instead right?

Brett, that is a good point. I just got a MP10 so I think I can sacrifice a pump. I didn't even think of that. Awesome advice!
