Melting Sympodium?

So... I came home today and found that my sympodium had melted (or something) overnight.... Any ideas what may have caused this? My only guess is that perhaps a torch that I have near by got it with a sweeper, but I would have expected similar negative reactions from the other surrounding coral (couple of paly frags, and a tiny goni frag).

Tested my water, and was a bit shocked to find my Alk and Ca as high as they were, so perhaps it is this? I'm also wondering why my water levels are as high as they are - I use the same water for both my DT(90g) and this tank (30g), and my DT has the exact opposite issues - low Alk, stable Ca, high Mg... (I only dose alk on the DT, nothing else).

Water:
80 F
Ammonia, Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: I can't read API to save my life, so, one of the first 3 bars (0 - 10)
pH: 8.0
Alk: 13.05 (!!)
Ca: 515 (!!)
Mg: 1300
Salinity: 33ppt

So, I have been a touch negligent and have not monitored levels directly lately, so I was quite surprised to find out that the salinity was low, and Alk and Ca through the roof! Could this have caused a melt in the sympodium frag? Is there anything I can do to help it heal, or just hope for the best at this point?

Thanks!!

Alk is high I would stop dosing and just let mother nature take it's course....

Strange thing is I don't dose in this tank at all... (I dose the 90g, but monitor it while dosing, this happened in my 30g cube). I tested my freshly mixed water and it's at ~9dKh

So how the feck did alk go from 9 to 13 :faint:

Doubt its a bad test kit - it tests out alright for my other tanks, I'll try again though. No idea what caused the alkalinity spike... :( More water changes ahead I suppose to try and drop it some! (or more coral... but its hard to fit much more right now!)
