Mp40 question

I have the chance to buy a used mp40 shipped for 250. The unit is about two years old with a 7month old wet side. I've never had one before and not sure if this is a good deal or not. Please let me know what you think.

After further research he is selling one of two that he just bought for 150 a piece. I know wtf where am I when these deals go down. But the bad thing is he posted some pics of him showing that the work in a pool dry side was in the water. I can't afford to spend 480 for a power head let alone two. And I could use a mp10 In addition to one or two mp40s. But this one is the only one I have been fast enough to get. He is holding waiting on my answer.

If this means that he had the whole thing submerged (wet and dry sides) then you don't want it. Is that what it meant?

If they fail the cost of replacement parts will put you back at the cost of new!

You asked for our opinion you got it. Just pony up and buy from better source. Believe me this will not be the only expensive purchase in this hobby.

you should see how clearly the instructions indicate that the dry side isn't even water resistant. It might even work forever but it could also be slowly corroding or rusting out in that box. Not worth the risk and worry unless the price is within disposable range. IMHO anyway.

Thanks for the imput. And as far as expense, iknow that the hobby is expensive that's why I ask the question. I have to be frugal as much as possible. Not all of us are surgeons. Does that mean that I can't enjoy the hobby?

If you can't afford it, get some koralia evo's, theyll do nicely until you get the cash for an mp40 or two. I would not buy that mp40, no way. Looks on the selling forums on reef central, there is always good deals there, but likely not for 250.

I'll add that mp40s are worth it, if you can swing it...they are expensive, but I'm a believer.

I am no where near experienced as the main bunch but I do have experience at spending money. I had to look up what this was as the talk was generally going over my head at warp 2.

However, after seeing what it's all about, unless you know where you can get a replacement dry part for less than $100, I would pass on this if I were you. If the dry side is not at lease water resistant, let alone water proof, and it was dropped into water, there is no way this is still worth $250. This could end up costing you $250 more if you have to buy a new one anyway.

One thing else you should consider. How long has this been for sale? Did you catch the ad within hours of him listing it? If so, then you still need to decide. If it's been up for a day or more, then someone else would have grabbed it by the time you saw it.

Just my two cents.
