Has anyone done the quiet drive upgrade i have a mp40 bought new/used was yr old but never seen water and ways i also have a qd and man its night and day with noise. I did research and basically the controller somehow is the big difference in noise so they say . Im gonna order a wet side qd no matter what i just like there looks better . Im just wondering if any body has done the swap and does it make it quieter or just wast of money? Dont get me wrong its not super loud its just the qd is dead silent sometimes i wonder if its on lol

I have the quiet drive wet sides. They do have alot more flow, atleast in my eyes. The way the quiet drive driver works seems to make the changes in speed more fluent that the noise isnt as noticeable.

I was reading the questions asked to ecotech forum asking and they said the dry sides are all the same from wwd/es/qd so they claim its just the driver and wetside that make the difference.

Youre a handy man. Have you ever considered doing the bearing mod?

I got a used mp40 from victor and one from the web used as well. So long story short ..one dry side is quieter. Victor did the bearing swap on the one i got from him and is much quieter.

The bearings are cheap and the diy are everywhere. Its just im not to confident in doing the work.

Also the new quiet drive driver has extra modes as well.

I upgraded to QD wet sides and noticed a very favorable positive difference. That was my first step before replacing the controller which I was originally planning on, but with such positive results I didn't think it was necessary.

I already know the dif wets side make im looking for input on the controller. I swapped wet sides on my quiet drive id definitely made big difference but still can be quieter imo im just wondering if its better to bite the bullet and buy a qd

Never mind . I went ahead and bought the driver and wet side was easier to spend 75$ then wait for answer

The qd's are virtually silent. The only problem with the qd's is the wetside magnet or lack of magnet. The wes models actually have a good magnet in them the qd's have some other garbage in it where the magnet is covered in a plastic coating that has a seam where they meet. Well those seams are all splitting on the qd wetsides and causing a ton of rust and peoples sps dieing from it. Ive got 2 or 3 qd wetsides like that where the seam has split. I will never ever buy another ecotech product again in my life. Good luck with your new wetsides joe.

Idk i keep em clean and inspect them while they are apart i had a mp10 one do that but it was old as long as wet sides last few yrs i will be happy i wasnt getting a yr on any other pumps. U put crap in saltwater i guess u cant expect to last for ever. I dont notice dif in magnet strength in fact im running mp10s on this tank and they r not rated for this thickness so they cant be that bad . Only time will tell

I thought I had a current pic but I'll have to take one later. You will know when it's messed up cause the plastic coated magnetic material will start to swell and expand and wont allow it to spin anymore. You will get the flashing red and green on the controller.

So if you get two years on a wet side consider your self lucky?

I bought my first mp40 in 2012 and I'm still running the original wet side , but will be upgrading it shortly to the qd

mine dates back to 2011 or jan 2012 .. and i run it 3 stops less than full blast, reef crest mode and still with the originals ..

dont upgrade unless you have to .. parts that are comming out in the last 1.5 to 2 years had more failures ( may be they are cutting corners on quality once they aquired the name ? :dontknow:

No need for pic i have one here that did it although i caught it before it got to point of no spin

Its 75$ part not end of the world u realize people pay 30k for a car and trade it in after 3yrs because its "too old" right spinning plastic parts under salt water i dont expect much just saying

My mp10s r from 2011 and 2012 one is original everything othe i changed wet side . I wasnt a huge fan of the price but doing the math i would of saved money if i started with ecotech lol . To each there own honestly i think to many people smoke to much weed in this hobby and brain cells r dead to many first no one answers the question that was originally asked then i get more replies after i say oh well i ordered em anyway i will find out for myself. I can go on and on like how people called me stupid for buying cheap pumps that echotech way to go to now ecotech sucks . Was same way with stupid hanna checkers oh api sucks get hanna fukin 100$ later oh hanna suck api more accurate. Back to the subject i could care less how long people think they will last i didnt ask that question. Again people drugs r bad stay off of the drugs
