For those of you who have stopped in at the store, you know Franklin the frogfish. After months of resisting, I finally gave in and decided to set up a tank for my own frogfish. Meet Stanley!

Thanks Jeff! I'm glad you got to see him. I'll be sure to post details of his tank as I piece it together...

BTW, your pistol shrimp should be here Friday.

He just a wee little feller... Pretty little thing thou. U think he could take down a sailfin when he gets hungry? ;-)

LOL, they say they can eat fish 2-3 times their size. We had a 3" one at the store that took down a 3" rabbitfish. It had it's spines out and everything and it took the frogfish a couple hours to choke it down. He was fine the next day though!

He's amazing! You guys are gonna be ordering me one soon enough! I thought for a second when I saw the post that you maybe took home Franklin jr! I didn't even know you were thinking about getting a frogfish?!

Brad: We're ready when you are! They are usually imported this time of the year so the wholesaler had a good selection. I had a hard time choosing! Haha, yeah I'm just sneaky like that! Stanley is a Antennarius maculatus or Warty frogfish and only gets 4". Franklin is a antennarius commerson which gets 12" like the ones you saw at the Shedd. So no, I did not want to set up anything more than a nano for this guy.

Thanks Skunkmere!

No problem Jeff, let us know if you have any future requests. I'm setting up a 24 gallon for him. I fell a little silly setting up such a large tank for him but he will need it eventually. I'm going to do something with minimal rock work and a few dendros, ricordeas, and zoas.

hmmm.. Maybe I'll also look into the frogfish.... That fish is wicked.lol the frogfish would probably be in a species tank only right?

Yes, do it! They are awesome. They will eat pretty much anything. I have heard of certain damsels being too quick to be eaten and there has been a camel shrimp in Franklin's tank that knows exactly where to sit so Franklin can't eat him so you can get away with some tank mates...I wouldn't get attached to them though! Hermit crabs and snails are fine too.
