I have a 10g tank thats used as a QT with leathers and cloves and mushrooms that use these type of lights,or similar $12lights from lowes.Let me upload a pic.

Here's the 10g tank,it has a total of 150leds,there are 6individual ''strips'' from lowes.My friend works there so i got the whole sebang for $20.I know nothing special but it's a QT tank,so who cares:

*Edit* It's only been 5months,so i don't know that it qualifies as long term.

Well it's certainly DIY, and it's not the cleanest (not your fault, just nature of the beast) but that definitely has to be freakin bright in person. I know what one of those pucks look like lit up!

I used velcro tabs so i could move things if i need to and add more lights if it seemed like it was needed. It's all hidden anyways! I hope my fish aren't judging me for it for being diy and velcro'd together...allows me to buy more things for them to swing through.

What was the actual name of the leds? I was at lowes but didn't see anything under $40. I just setup a 125 and wouldn't mind trying your idea on the fuge.

got mine from the menards in naperville of 59. This kit linked below is the one i got but was originally 20 and on sale for 12.99...hope you manage to find one close to you.
