Helping mother upgrade her classroom fish tank from a JBJ small nano to a JBJ 28. Working on getting HOB aquamax Skimmer installed today.

Pretty much stock plumbing with the exception on shortening the horizontal plumbing so I'd get better clearance between the hood and the Skimmer plumbing.

Even with the shortened plumbing the PVC T fitting sticks up way to much and keeps the hood from opening. Swapped out the T for a 90. I know the top of the t is open to prevent the body of the skimmer from overflowing. I'm torn between just keeping the 90 or getting another T fitting and cutting it down so it'll take up less room and still act as a fail-safe.
FYI if anybody gets one of these don't be an idiot like me and assume that the pipes are PVC, They are not, using a PVC cutter on them will make you very very angry.
Up for any imput.

Plumb Chiller
Install LED retro
Put casters on stand bottom
Clean stand and rocks for tank
