Nasty booogery stuff on the surface of sump

My dads tank has had this problem for ever. It's a really thick mucus looking thing in his sump. Tt coats all the glass and forms a layer on the surface. Here are a few pictures. Anyone know what it is or how to get rid of it? I cant even get him to grow chaeto cause it covers it and chokes it out. View attachment 12907View attachment 12908

Is there any water circulation in the sump?

Dosing carbon? Bacteria?

From time to time, my sump gets something similar.

I think that is bacteria bloom? are you using bio pellet reactor?

I bought a small shop vac just for that, I use it to vacuum up the mucous stuff.

Got that when doseing vodka i stopped it stopped but not sure if u dose anything

It's just poor water. Put a air bubbler in that section an it will go away m.

Was getting this before dosing Vinegar. No biopellets. The 1st chamber has circulation from the skimmer but the 2nd and 3rd dont. The most build up is in the 1st chamber with the skimmer. Thinking about maybe trying some red slime remover.
