Need a sugestion on a fish for a 20t LR and Sand Fuge

Herbie

Banned
I have a tank plumbed ino my grow out system that is a 20t with just live rock, live sand and fiji mud. I'd like to add a fish that would add a little life and possibly groom the sand a little. It has to stay small (20t tank), be low risk of jumping and not need any special feeding (though it will get a mixture of several prepared and frozen foods). Any suggestions?

you can go with a pistol shrimp or mantis to clean the sand bed

chromis or damsels for fish if you want.. Plus you wont break the bank when buying these guys.. they are fairly cheap

Banded sleeper goby, would absolutely LOVE having that tank to itself and will keep your sand sparkly clean.

Paying attention to your requirements... I suggest a Wheeler's or Randall's Goby. Both species are easy to care for, fun to watch and form relationships a with pistol shrimp. You could also add either to your reef without problem.

Not paying attention to your feeding requirements... I've seen someone turn their separate tank (similar to what you described) into a pipefish/seahorse tank. They also kept multiple varieties of macro algae. It was both extremely unique and beautiful.

Did you decide on a fish yet? A court jester goby would stay tiny and groom the sand.

Thanks gus. Another good suggestion. I'm actually going a different direction with this now and am upgrading and consolidating all of my set-ups into a 45g cube. We may be talking lights very son sir!
