Need help picking a tang

Yes that is true I was always a bit nervous but never had an incident. My scopas was always grazing and picking at algae so they certainly won't hurt

I went through this a while back.. the solution for me was a mixture of things... To inhibit the growth of the algae, I had to incorporate GFO.. As for the fish, My yellow tang and FoxFace graze on he rocks all day long. I am not sure what all my copper band butterfly eats, but he too grazes on the rocks all day long. I think it's mainly all about the preference of the fish.. As the saying goes "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink".. Same goes with fish. You can give them all the algae they want, but you can't make them eat it..

Good luck!

Good to hear. I may pick up the scopas and see how that works out if not then I'll try adding a kole later

Yeah my copperband is always picking at my rocks. I'm going to add some Phosban and see if that helps also but I've never been a fan of adding media and such to my tank. Never even ran carbon until a few weeks ago when I noticed the crash starting

Anarchy, try a tomini tang its a bristle tooth tang just like the kole tang. You probably wouldn't be able to keep a kole and a tomini together but I liked the tomini because of the orange fins. AP had 3 of them yesterday.

Thanks for the heads up I'll look into them

Only problem with the foxface is being venomous and if the wife got stung it'd be a hospital trip since she's highly allergic
Definitely need to be cautious, but like someone stated previously they are a quite skittish and would probably hide while anyone is in the tank.
Would also recommend tomini or kole.
Good luck!

I got all kind of tang when start reef tank, none of them pick on GHA...they pick on the rock but not gha...You need to manual clean up the GHA yourself...or use ALGAEFIX (this take long but it work).

Yeah the kole did nothing for the hair algae lol but he loves picking at my rocks. Only 1 very snail patch of hair algae left. I manually romove it about once every 3 months but it's in a bad place so can't get it all

They will eat some short HA but when the GHA long they will not..You tank may be in good condition so not a lot of GHA in there. If they eat the long GHA, they poop and realease those spores of GHA again in the tank so the same happen. Better way to recommend reefers to control the water, manual pick the GHA or use chemical (Chemical may be last state when the GHA out break). I dont recomment put fish in the tank to control GHA.

Yellow eye kole tang.Went terminator on my algea all over the back of glass. The one fish and no3po4x helped .
i also had a blue atlantic tang that would somewhat help graze .both were great fish ,and mine werent aggressive like other tangs.
