I just noticed now that my lights are off that I have snails everywhere in my tank.. are these harmless or should I start taking them out? They are round shells with like brown specks kinda like a spiral.. thanks!

I can't really make out the pics, but from your description, those are good guys. They're related to the turbo snail, but won't get that big. I have hundreds of them in my tank, and they mostly come out at night.

same here, hundreds in my tank but they hide in the day.I have lots of zoas and never lost any from snails so I wouldnt worry. I wonder if hermits could use their shells

I had 2 sundial snails. You can tell for sure they are bad if they have a cone shaped trapdoor (think late 80's madonna). If it's flat, they they are good and your tank is healthy enough o allow for reproduction. When populations explode like that they will most likely setle to an acceptable level later.

here is a couple more pictures hopefully they are a little better,.. anyone help??

Not sundial, 100% safe. I had them for over a year, no damage

If they bother you too much, you can gather them up and I will take them.

+1 I actually need some of these. I've got stomatellas breeding like crazy, but no collonistas. Clean up crews that breed in your tank are nice, better than trying to flip over that expensive astrea snail that seems to want to land on it's back in the sand.

If you're anywhere near Naperville or Evanston or somewhere let me know, I could use a good 10 or so.
