New Reef Monitor -- Alk/Calc???

Been a fair amount of buzz about it, but the monthly upkeep cost is going to get $$$$. More importantly, none of the computing or reporting are done local. It's all done on one of their servers "in the cloud." More alarming is ALK, a far too critical parameter is not measured, but instead "alkalinity is calculated from the measurement of carbon dioxide and pH." How will things like vinegar (CH3COOH) dosing (or any other non-CO2 pH change) affect alk reading?

Overall there's a god chance kickstarter supporters won't be without a product. Time will tell how the final product actually works in real life, too risky to jump onto this ship for me.

Seems like the monthly 40$ disks are going to be killing it. At least there is a start to this type of monitoring. In the future this should get cheaper like everything else.

It would be awesome to finally have a continuous alk monitoring system but IMO titration or colorimetric analysis are more reliable and reproducible than pH and CO2 calculations.
