OK I'm tossing in the towel and need some PROFESSIONAL HELP. :)

Yeah had a couple emerald crabs early in my tanks life, sadly they did die off.. Hmmm maybe getting another is a plus.. :)

Thanks for the info and reminder.

I'm battling a little Hair algae in my SPS despite exporting a lot of Macro Algea and heavy skimming.

The tangs are worthless on this but Crabs especially emerald help a lot. The down Side is they do not live forever. Now every couple of months I add a few more.

As far as skimming Tunze makes a small skimmer that does quite a good job given its size.

Well figured I'd give a quick update on the Skimmer.. After consulting with Gunner this AM, that guy rocks, he instructed me to turn down my flow while increasing my air intake.

Also to set the air bubbles so they are just about at the entry of the cup, then let it sit for a day or so, and adjust to push foam up to top once it starts to froth.

Well this afternoon I blew off my rocks, and did a 10 gal water change, then once everything settled, I put in new socks.
Right after doing that and relaxing, I thought I better check the skimmer settings and make sure everything as fine, well BAM I notice it is foaming over the cup inlet, and collecting what appeared to be mostly water but a little bit of gunk.

So quickly backed it down a bit and now I'm looking like so..

So I think she's foaming now, and collecting some gunk as the top of lid was plastered with it, and I can see some sitting on top of foam.

So now it's a waiting game... thanks for all the help guys and gals.. Although I thought I was doing good, I've learned so much more about routine needed during the week and weekly with these systems. :) I just hope one day my tank is as colorful, and healthy as yours.. :)

I had a massive green hair algae outbreak in my 180 , you could have taken a lawnmower to it ! A trusted reefer told me to try mexican turbo snails ... I bought 21 of them , i put them in my tank on a friday night , by wednesday night my tank was about 90% clean , by the end of the week it was spotless ! Has been ever since !! Some of them have died but i still have about 12-13 of them and it has been 4 months .....

Just my 2 cents worth

Tried the Turbo's and they wouldn't touch it.. :( I also tried red legged hermits and same... So sticking to my regimen of water changes, light feeding, and letting the new Skimmer do it's thing.

I've also been dosing with the Nualgi, so not 100% sure if it's that or the husbandry/skimmer. but the Algae if finally dissipating. Not gone totally but I can see it changing, and was able to pull some off the rocks the other day, so will do the same again before water change.

Just giving it time, and letting the additive do it's thing. I must say my water looks so clear, since using that stuff, so that's nice.
