Operation Prazipro/Metro

My fish are believed to have flukes and/or ich. Symptoms started just a few days ago and already two have died. My favorite (and first fish in the reef) contracted it two days ago but has been able to fight it off thus far. For the sake of my fish and to prove/disprove the myths/facts about treating fish with medications in a live reef I decided to do just that. Today I dosed Prazipro and Seachem Metro, in a mixed reef, hours apart.
Specific details and results will be posted soon. Lets see what really happens.

Ive done both u be fine. I have seen more fish with flukes now adays last three i got had em .fish looks clean but i notice they twitch every so often havent lost none knock on wood but still a pain good luck man loseing fish sucks

Try dosing VC to the reef, too. It will boos the immune system & your corals will be happy!
I have been, since long before this outbreak. I attribute that to the reason I still have fish alive and two fighting it.
Is copper good for flukes in a FOWLR?
I honestly have no idea.

That's reassuring. If my clown makes it it'll be a miracle. I haven't seen any physical improvement yet.

Excellent, glad to hear it! Good luck. I am treating horrible ich on one of my favorite SA cichlids, a large Uraru. Since FW fish don't drink water, I don't think VC will help him. Right now it's salt/heat, 90% WC. He looks a bit better. Nobody else in the tank is nearly as sick as he is. just a few spots on the plecos.

Don't forget to use Melafix for any wounds the parasites may cause the fish.
Again, I can't use that in my tank---even at 1/2 dose, it's killing my prized plecos.

If its ich the metro wont work fast enough from what ive seen unless u running uv to help control the ich if its flukes the prazi should work pretty fast day or two should see improvement im running it right now for same reason from my experiance if u see it on fish its not flukes flukes is more fish flicking on roxk and u cant see spots ive also seen it cause one cloudy eye ich on other hand u can see also marine velvet looks like ich at first just lot smaller spots both should be treated with copper asap if not running uv. This is all from my experiances ive had dealing with sick fish knowing what they really have can be differnce in dead or alive fish

So yer saying if its velvet I'm screwed? I can't treat my DT with copper.

Are you soaking the food in garlic? It enhances taste & appetite.
Yes I am.

My understanding the only thing that works with velvet is copper. I believe I had a case of it and I saved one of the two fish with a copper treatment in my quarantine tank. I quarantine all my fish so it was not a issue for me to treat.

If the fish look like they are covered in film or it looks like ich but very tiny it could be velvet. My fish had cloudy eyes and their fins looked shredded as well. It came on very quickly.

It's velvet. I examined my favorite fish, the first fish I got, my onyx clown. She just died. RIP Sushi. QT starts tomorrow. You live and you learn. I learned the hard way. Tomorrow I set up QT and start trapping fish.

There is a med made by fish vet forgot name white bottle blue label yellow med. I used in reef while back i had sifties back then didnt kill any not sure about other corals though

The fish/utility room upgrade. 10 gal QT/hospital tank. I've got everything I need...except for cupramine (copper), marine velvet's biggest enemy.

Also, just lost my hybrid blenny. The death toll continues to rise :(.

Daym Brian, I'm so sorry to hear about all this. I hope that you can cure it fast. If you need any help let me know.
