I was looking to set up a ten gallon tank with a par 30 led bulb... What is the difference between them and what should I know about them when looking to purchase one?? It should def be 6500k or greater right? Some have blue and white LEDs right? How many watts should it be .. I'm only looking to grow soft corals btw ... Thanks in advance ....

Check out RapidLED.com, they sell PAR 38 bulbs, more suited for aquarium corals. All the PAR bulbs have different configuartion of different LED bulbs, they also have different wattage on each LED (you want the stronger wattage kinds).

Ya there is so many different ones ... I guess what I'm asking has anyone used a certain bulb with positive results...

for a tank you want the kavin to be more than just 6500. look for a 14k to 20k LED array. a 6500 will be like an regular light bulb color and not appealing for a tank. High light demanding corals will need a 3w LED (usually the are under drivin at 2.5 watts). If you're doing softies and some LPS a 1-2w LED array would be fine.

with a 10 gallon, you can do any par bulb and be fine. what i think you are asking is how much blue vs. white vs. violet leds, and when you are dealing with that small of a water column, really it's going to be your personal preference. I recommend going to either nano-reef.com or RC (don't start hatin there's 10000000 pictures there) and I know at least nano-reef has pictures of what the different combos look like.

the above statement is only sorta true. There are people doing 1w cheap china led's and running real growth on clams.... the wattage means nothing

You can go to nanoreefs.com and ask around there. alot of people with nano tanks use PAR38. I just started using the rapidled brand, so I can't tell you yet how my corals are doing with them.
