I got these from Coral Compulsion and just hung them; and I think they look great !!! These are the 20k/27watt ones. I got cheap hanging cords from Ikea ($4 each and they come with hooks.) The lights are about 12 inches from the water. I will clean up the back end of the cords but not sure what to do yet.

Just in case anyone was wondering, this is not a paid endorsement and I am not an investor in Coral Compulsion. lol

Thanks Jimmy!

WOW!!!! Big differance and I like :thumbup: Now we need a parr reading

Was just over last week.....

That is a really nice looking set up. I did see those shades at ikea also but I didn't get 'em. Not sure what I want to do with the cords.

I should have my custom clamp on fixture available next month. Then you won't have to worry about any cords :)
I'll keep everyone updated on when they are available.

First, I think you solved my lighting problem with my monster tank. I love these and I love the shades from Ikea. This is what I am going to do.

How about scour the mail order catalogs for the white power cord hiders that stick to the wall. Or maybe home depot/menards has them. I have this hiding the cable cord that stretches across half the room. It sticks to the wall without damaging it and you can paint over it.

Thanks for the great lighting idea.

I won't have any corals, not now anyway, maybe in years to come. Right now it will be fish and stingrays and maybe a shark. Should I get the 14k or the 20k? I have the L shape tank that is 6 x 8 feet. I think 10 lights would be enough, maybe 8 since there are no corals. Now I also have to figure if I want 27 or 36W. Suggestions?

I'd get a range of colors, add some depth to the lighting. And even the lower watt LEDs can support light demanding corals, so I wouldn't get the higher wattage. You could even get a red corner, or where there's some overlap, and then when your rays/fish go through it'll look like they're color changing!

The foot print of the 27w is about 18"x18". Depending on the depth of the tank you might want to go with the 36w.
