Par38 LED's and a 29gallon Tank

Hey guys,

I changed my mind on a 20L i was planning on doing and just got a 29gal setup I will be drilling and installing the glass holes overflow kit on. I'm still wondering what kind of lighting I should run and I was thinking about the possibility of just running a Par38 led bulb like from boostLED...

Would two over my 29gal be enough light to sustain BTA's and some SPS?

Thanks
Eric

Not sure, but for the price of 2 par38 bulbs you can put together a pretty sweet Dimmable DIY setup that can.

Yea... you're right...

Sigh, my biggest issue is deciding what direction to take with the tank. As much as I wanna do an all SPS tank, I just don't think I'll have the resouces or funds here at school to do it... Mainly because even simple items like carbon, dosing chemicals, SALT i have to order online because no one here carries anything unless I make a 40 mile drive... Even then getting the livestock I want around here is looking to be pretty hard. Best bang for the buck right now I think is just to go with a 150w MH pendant over the 29... that would grow pretty much anything I'd ever put in the 29gal I think...

Decisions decisions... I hate them.

Just go low maintenance, low cost. First time a college buddy gets drunk and spills something in or god knows what other slew of drunken possibilities... You are gonna be PO'ed! Heck, just get a fishbowl and 2 cheap goldfish come to think of it...

That's a good point, but it's going in my room. I think I may just go a low maintenance tank and stick with LPS and Softies... I know I want saltwater for sure though... I know if I don't start with something i'll be happy with, i just won't be satisfied and start a saltwater tank sometime again down here.

I think i'm just gonna get a light that will be enough for anemones. That'll prob be the hardest coral i'll be going with. Most likely I'll just be bringing some GSP/zoas/pom pom xenia/frogspawn frags from my 75gal and bring them back to Iowa. Stocking i'm just gonna keep a pair of Clowns, CUC, and possibly a firefish...

I even played with the idea of a Frogfish tank. haha, but I'm not sure how i'd take care of CUC cuz they can eat snails and hermits and all that too correct?

Last decision of mine is to go barebottom or sand... I'm gonna be doing a DSB in the sump this time around though. Gotta design a sump for it. gonna be a 10gal...
