Parasite?

:( It sure looks like one... Hard to tell with the pictures, I mean, as always your photos are great, the yellow hues in it are incredible, but I still can't fully make out what looks to be clinging to the fish. Any chance of catching the fish to look closer / remove it?

chances are very low ill be able to catch it, im thinking of using a trap but they have never worked for me in the past. especially with such a skittish fish, if i walk up to fast it darts away... im concerned with w.e is trying to come out may infect my other guys :(

thats what concerned me dom, ive seen it for a while now. But just noticed it broke through the skin yesterday so i took some pics. ill see if i can get any better ones today

Eesh, scary thought! Near impossible to catch fish, and yet best option is to get him out ASAP, that really sucks!

I hope it's nothing, just a minor self inflicted scratch, but it really doesn't sound that way. Good luck man, keep us posted with any developments!

ill toss a bottle trap in there just because, but i dont have high hopes for it. especially since my fish get fed constantly

Hmm, good luck! I hope somehow you catch the little guy anyhow, for its health as well as your tanks health! (And your own stress!)

looks internal, try prazi pro soaking food? just try to target it to fish, you dont want coral or inverts grabbing it

lil firefish is still eating well, im not sure if she is getting any of the prazi food ive been attempting to target feed her. ill try and snap some pics later on, but i dont think its through the skin anymore!

is this one of those magic eye pics??? I keep staring at it but I don't see what you all are talking about ... (prolly right in front of me) is it on the body ... head... tail?.. I dunno

The guts should stop right at the anus, but there is a chunk that ends in the close up of his side. Where it looks like its poking out of his skin.

broken fish rib? maybe a deformation or tumor ? ... it may have always had it and you didn't notice it... isolate and see if it gets bigger

also these fish are known to carpet surf ... mabe it got hurt jumping ...

I once had a bad mosquito bite on my shin. I picked at it and cleaned it a million times, but it was always there for like 6 weeks. Once day I was picking at it and felt a little hard part. I got a pair of needlenose pliers out and pulled out a 2 inch piece of thin wire from my leg. No idea how it got there. Alien probing notwithstanding, maybe your little fish got poked with something long ago that is just working itself out right now. Occam's razor and all that. . . . :nerd: I'll hope it's just a splinter for you.
