Plumbing questions

Im setting up a tank and have some plumbing questions:
1. Any advantage with using Sch 80 versus regular bulkheads? I dont know what the difference is. Will a 1" Sch 80 fit in regular 1" hole? Or do the sch80's require bigger than regular sized holes?
2. Who uses the Herbie drain system and how do you like it?

Sch 80 bulkheads are more heavy duty and will last longer than a standard ABS bulkhead. No they are not the same size the sch80's are larger but youd have to measure the size of the hole and cross reference that with the o.d. of the sch80 bulkhead to see if it would fit unless someone else has already tried it.

look here nino. you can see that the sch80 needs bigger holes in the notes section. Sch 80 is just stronger and tougher and better looking because it is grey, but they are the same threaded fittings (NPT), i don't thing they are interchangeable at slip fittings but i haven't ever cut sch 80 because it's nearly always threaded as far as I have seen. I think It's also quite a bit more expensive than building all your plumbing in 40 and then painting it with krylon fusion would be. Then you can do whatever color your walls are and make it invisible. :)
Ironically I do not have a Herbie drain, but I definitely plan on using a version of that on my next build so I'll follow for that part.

nino, I had a standard 65 RR aquarium with durso drain and return in corner overflow. My overflow was quiet but below the tank my sump was making noise and tons of bubbles. The bubbles never made it back up to my DT, but had a ton of salt creep around the sump from the bubbles. I switched to Herbie and it works awesome. No more bubbles in sump. RC has a long thread on it.

Thanks guys. Im just gonna use regular bulkheads and will be trying the Herbie drains. I've heard really great things about the Herbie system, but will require me to use both holes in my overflow. I'm gonna have to plumb my return pipe to go behind my tank and over the back wall.

On my previous setup I used schedule 80 pipe....I do not believe I used schedule 80 bulkheads since I bought them at a lfs. The 1" pipe fit fine in the standard bulkhead. I don't really see the point in using the schedule 80. It was more expensive and did not really provide any benefits in my opinion.. This build just used schedule 40 and standard bulkheads from lfs.
