Powder blue tang

Hello,
I was wondering if it is normal/alright for my pbt to only eat nori? It won't eat anything else I feed. I even tried Rods food because it has a little bit of everything and it only eats the sea weed. Is this ok? It looks super healthy and I have had him for about 3 months. What do u think??
Thanks,
Bill

I don't know if you need to train them to eat anything else. Nori (or something VERY similar) is their natural diet. Anything else is just extra, and not required for health.

It might be nice to have to feed one less thing, but you've got a healthy tang, I wouldn't rock the boat.

That's the point the pellets keep it healthy but what do I know only having one for 8 years
Long term health is key so what ever works for you.

No chill pill needed I give any one credit that keeps one in a reef tank . Its an ich magnet The big thing is its not in the wild. It's whole world is changed in a tank and it needs a little more TLC then most fish kept. The best way I can put it,sorry if I come of the wrong way nothing meant by it. On a side note its the meanest fish I own.

Take a chill pill, lol :)[/QUOTE]

Yeah, my pbt is a nasty bastard. I've often thought about selling him to someone who has a nice big fowlr with other aggressive fishes.

But back on topic, you could try soaking pellets in some garlic extract. If you get him eating pellets you wouldn't have to feed nori every day, which I feel is a pita sometimes.

I have a pretty aggressive tank (220 gal) with a 9-year old Picasso Trigger, 5-year old Niger Trigger, a 8" Naso tang that I've had for about 5 years, a somewhat big powder blue that I've had for 3 years, a nearly adult Emperor Angel that I've had for a few months, a juvie harlequin tusk that I've had for a few months, and lemon peel angel I've had for 5 years or so. Everybody loves nori, especially the tangs. However, both of my tangs will eat anything you throw in there. They all eat Spectrum. Basically, they're all pigs. Surprisingly, the Emperor is the shyest of the group when the waters become turbulent at feeding time. He gets his though.

i just lost a blonde naso that only ate nori . died fat and looked healthy one day was alive eating next day couldnt find it next morning dead. had him for a few months too so idk what caused it

Mine eats only rod's, mysis, blood worms, and whatever else I have... Neither of mine really mess with Nori, need to get them into it.
