Price check on a used reef tank

Depends if glass or acrylic, IMO glass would be a little more . I believe about $4-5 per gallon on a reef ready is a price to sell. What sellers think is worth is only what buyer is willing to spend. There are couple 220 gal. here on F/S section for a while now but I think they are still overpriced , that's why still here. I recently sold my 120 gal. Oceanic Tech , starphire glass for $400. Even it was one of the better tanks no one was willing to pay more. Good luck. :)
 
Depends on the sump and the stand. If the sump is an old 55g with some baffles glued in and the oak stand is a DIY painted mess, then not much there, but if it's custom cabinetry and well thought out sump design, it will be worth a lot more. Assuming it's a standard glass 220?
 
$500 seems a bit low, but I don't know the condition of the tank. Again, if it's in great shape and the stand is really nice, you could go higher. It just depends on how bad you want it vs how bad they want to sell it vs just giving up and going new. A 180, which is just a shorter 220 can be had for $800-something, and you can figure out the stand. I always like new glass because there will always be as scratch in a used tank that will bother me. I just had an offer rejected and I offered the asking price, but then they decided to only sell it with a crappy looking stand for an extra $250. I didn't want it that bad.
 
IMO $3 a gallon is a great deal, $4 - $5 is a good deal, but any higher any you can find better deals if you wait. Ultimately if it is cheaper then retail and you are happy with the price then go for it.
 
hey fellas, ya this is my tank he is talking about....the tank, stand and canopy all are in very good shape and the sump is not a crappy DYI sump, the sump is custom made and laser cut...
 
ya the glass is in pretty good shape and everything has been cleaned and is ready to go...the 1000 did not include the sump as he mentioned if he wanted the sump I was thinking like 1250, but he hasn't responded after the 500 dollar offer
