pvc question

how long do you have to let pvc cement dry before running the system? the box says 2 hours but that doesn't seem long enough. I was thinking overnight at least.

At least 12 hours and you'll be fine.

I was told 1 hour by a store owner. That had no ill effect for me!

I think as long as it gets proper ventilation 3 or 4 hours is fine. It's not so much drying as it is curing, but it needs a lot of air exchange to fully cure quickly. I've heard that if you blow smoke over it it happens almost instantly (super glue does that too) If you are gluing a whole tangle of pipes you would definitely want to wait longer. basically when you can't smell it it's safe (don't smell it too much ) That has worked for me.
