Question: Dimmable T5 retrofit lights

So I am sitting here at midway waiting for our flight home for Easter and I started thinking about replacing my 48" VHO 110w lamps. They are inside a Hamilton Technologies fixture with (2) 250w MH. I want to keep the fixture as it works great and has big quiet fans to keep everything nice and cool. I want to replace them with dimmable T5's. Does anyone know any reliable brands? I have enough room to add four, might be a tight fit it but I'm sure it will work. Any suggestions?

Nope, but I would be happy to help on a weekend in a few weeks now that my new tank build has settled down and about to (mostly) hit autopilot. I do have firsthand experience building Dimmable LED fixtures, the T5 retrofit has got to be easier than that!

Boy that would be AWESOME!!!!!!!! Real glad you were able to sell the 60g. I will look into that link, the wife and I are in Dallas right now. Will make a shopping list of stuff to get and then......magic!

Is it controllable? Would I be able to use my digital aquatics controller. Would you recommend two bulbs or four? I think 2 would be enough but I like the color variety of 4. Would this be over kill?

Each ballast drives 2 bulbs, do you have enough room to retrofit 2 bulbs with reflectors in place of one t12 vho? I would put as many as you can fit for a wider range of bulbs, plus you can have multiple sunrise/sunset channels then for before and after the mh light is turned on/off.

I believe the DA ALC uses a 1-10vdc signal, not PWM. I have to double check, but I believe the ATI ballasts use PWM for driving the dimmer control. If that's the case I don't believe your ALC can control the ATI ballasts.
