I got a gfo and a carbon reactors on my sump..I also have chaetomorpha and and other plant in my refugium with lr and ls....the question is Do I need both of this?

Depends on your PO4 and Nitrate level. Check em first and see if they are low enough with the macro algae.
Do you have algae growing in your display tank? If there are alot of algae in display, then you need to do something else to lower them (feeding less, water change, GFO, better skimmer, less fish)

Will check levels but no algae on display for over 9 months just a little cyano in my fuge over the chaeto

When you have low enough po4, your chaeto will die. Mine got brittle and started dying just a few weeks after adding GFO. If you run both, soon enough, you'll just be running GFO.
